It's done!

I don't know if you knew this or not, but I am finishing my Bachelor's Degree. I know, I know, I'm about 30 years too late. But since this was one of those things on my bucket list, I'm doing it. After all, now that I'm 50 years old, I need to start thinking about those things....

Anyway, I attend the University of LaVerne, and part of the graduation requirements is a Senior Thesis.  The class is called Senior Seminar, and basically, each senior must write a 40-50 page paper on anything they like in their major.

My major is Social Science, with an emphasis on Psychology.  So I wrote about Self-esteem, the "self-esteem" movement that started in the 1970s, and how it has effected academia.

Here's what my paper looked like:

I don't know if you  can read it well, but this is the title page, and it says:

"The Self-Esteem Movement: a Study in its Effects on Academia"

Anyway, if you ever have a hard time getting to sleep at night, I can let you borrow it to cure that problem.  What I mean is, if you're not interested in education and the like, it's probably really, really boring. And if you want the cliffnotes version, here it is:

"One of the most controversial subjects of modern-day psychology is the concept of self-esteem. While most theorists......blah, blah, blah......self-esteem is good......blah, blah, blah.......no, wait, self-esteem is bad......blah, blah, blah.......no, too much of it is bad....blah, blah, blah......so let's help those who need more of it...blah, blah, blah...but most people today have too much...blah, blah, blah...narcissism....blah, blah, blah.....self-control...blah , blah, blah.......The End."

I'm pretty sure that's how it reads.

And it only took 3 months of thinking about it, 2 days of calling in sick to work on it, 3 Starbucks venti hot chocolates with an extra pump of chocolate, 1 ream of printer paper, 4 trips to the library, 3 nights of 3 hours of sleep, 1 afternoon of freaking out over the bibliography, 2 paper cuts, and lot of prayer.

I turned in exactly 50 pages if you count the cover page, the endnotes, and the bibliography. Then I had to present it to my class, which means standing in front of them for an hour and telling them all about it (reading my notes) and then answering all their questions.

To give you a clue of what it was about, I started with this video. It's 4 1/2 minutes long, just so you know.

But it turned out great!! My professor LOVED IT!! And best of all, IT'S DONE!!!!!!!!

So thank you to everyone who helped, supported, cheered, and assisted me. There is NO freakin' way (sorry for the replacement word) that I would have gotten it done without the help of my dear family and my super-wonderful friends. I love you all!

You can get an extra pump of chocolate?? Good to know. SO proud of you! I have never written a paper that long, maybe half at most. (Yay for economics!)
